Check out my Bio/Interview…
Dr. Michael H. Likey, Ph.D., D.D.
“A Bag of Tricks on a Sunday-Morning”

In the 1980’s and early 1990’s, Michael Likey (then a professional, touring magician and graphic designer) produced the longest-running, regularly airing show about magic in the world:
“Magic Mike’s Castle”© on VPW 11, Winnipeg, Canada!
It ran for nine seasons, as Likey also regularly guested on such local children’s
shows as “S’kiddlebits with Joey”, (3 seasons, CKY Television, Winnipeg, Canada) starring Juno-awardwinner
Joey Gregorash. Some of these original shows have been “immortalized” on YouTube:
and also on Live Video.com:
“I still have people (who grew up on my shows in
Winnipeg) recognize me in Vancouver, 15 years after the last episodes aired!” he declared.
Today, Dr. Michael Likey, Ph.D., D.D., combines all of his skills and knowledge to teach and entertain
attendees at his Sunday-morning Metaphysical-New Thought-Spiritual/Mental-Science services! The
audience-participation, fast-paced service, which has been called “cutting-edge”, is filled with affirmativeprayer,
magic illusions, humor, original music, (he writes catchy, Cat Stevens-like tunes and sings and plays
them on his guitar) and is more like a show than a church-service!
“That’s because it’s not church”, explains Likey. “It’s more of an “alternative spiritual-gathering” based in
the spiritual philosophies of Plato and Aristotle, today called “New Thought” (not to be confused with “New Age”)!”
Dr. Michael, using this ancient wisdom, plus the content of his self-help books (most recently “Journey of the Mind, Journey of the Soul” published by iUniverse, New York, was released globally and is available on Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com) continues to help others to re-empower and transform their lives based in meditation and self-hypnosis; did we mention Likey is also a certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and has a private practice as a spiritual counselor?
Likey explains, “People who have a genuine faith in God, but don’t feel “at home” in a mosque, church, or synagogue, come to this service.” On a recent visit to one of his services, we noticed the room in Port Moody crowded with a variety of ethnic groups, all singing, clapping, laughing, and feeling amazed at Likey’s magic-tricks. It’s a “feel-good gathering”, without being “syrop-y”. Likey is genuinely funny and likeable…one might call him “quick-witted”. And we had to stand, as all the seats were taken. But this charismatic “Ordained Metaphysical Minister” (yes, he performs legal and binding weddings, funerals, and “baby-blessings” too) has no hidden-agenda. He has been known to quote a myriad of traditional texts, from
the Old Testament, to the Bhagavad-Gita (the Hindu-bible); his seminary educational background is related to Religious Science/Science of Mind, and Unity, but on this day he made only one reference to Zen-Buddhism. He displayed a sincere desire to encourage people to practice “Mystical Meditation”, essentially a solitary, self-empowering technique for making Divine contact and to heal the unconscious mind of past traumas. All they have to do is close their eyes, and become aware of their breath!
Ahah…a “flashback” to the ‘60’s?
The youthful-looking 52-year-old Likey’s eyes shone: “It’s all about love; loving yourself is the
same as loving your fellow man because we all share God as our creator, therefore we are all “one”.
Meditating helps you to feel at peace and at “oneness” with yourself, and therefore God. Take a few moments away from your hectic day, and take a breath!” He demonstrated, asking us to take a deep breath and to exhale with an “ahhh”, similar to a big sigh. We did feel good immediately…content, relaxed.
“That’s because you just now immediately oxygenated your blood, sending life-force-energy to every organ in your body…how rejuvenating is that? So if you don’t have twenty-minutes a day or more to sit in silent contemplation, take a breath!”
What keeps his congregants coming back weekly? Likey gives so much of himself in his nearly two-hour long show which goes by quickly. Everyone goes away feeling moved, happy, and good about themselves; they also get some practical feedback during a “Q & A” segment which generally encourages selfempowerment and exploration. No gurus here. We even heard a few hum some of his tunes as they dropped money into the donation-box on their way out. On this day Likey was also signing his books, excitedly adding his “signature” phrase “It’s all good!” Magic truly does happen.
Likey is a Member of the American Metaphysical Doctors Association (USA) and the Association of Ethical
and Professional Hypnotherapists. (England) Rev. Dr. Likey is also an Associate Member of the Canadian
International Metaphysical Ministry. (Canada)
